The Ferrari team had a better 2021 Formula season as compared to the 2021 season where they finished sixth in the constructor’s championship. Ferrari ended the 2021 season in third place which was considered by the pundits as the bare minimum that they had to do to consider their season as a good one. The team was engaged in an enticing battle for third place with McLaren but they managed to nick it off them in the final few races of the season.

Carlos Sainz’s podium finish in Abu Dhabi helped a great deal in extending their lead over McLaren in the constructor’s championship. Given the progress of the 2021 season and the progress that they have made leading into the 2022 season, Ferrari and Laurent Mekies would be looking for a step up and would want their team to play a part in the championship battle for the Formula1 2022 season.
