There is no doubt in admitting to the fact that the first race after the summer break in 2021 Formula 1 season proved to be a total disappointment for all the teams, drivers and the fans. After seeing the race getting suspended, because of the extremely harsh weather conditions, one driver who was keen on fans getting some sort of compensation or refund was Lewis Hamilton. Who surely seems to stick to his words even on day 1 of the Dutch GP.

Lewis Hamilton handed out a post on his Instagram stating that there would be an ‘exclusive gift’ for spectators who attended the washed-out Belgian GP. The seven time world champion had earlier revealed his frustration for trying to start the race behind the safety car for two rounds and publicly condemned the authorities for this decision.

Toto Wolff said a decision on any form of compensation or similar for fans was a matter for Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and the Spa race promoter.

“Stefano and the promoter are looking at that situation,” he said. “It’s something that is a matter for the organisers.

“Certainly we are all in the boat together and if it costs Stefano, it costs the teams, so we would be indirectly donating anyway. But I think this can be resolved between [the] commercial rights holder and promoter and we are not part of this conference.”
