Mercedes Formula 1 Driver Lewis Hamilton Congratulates Emma Raducanu on Reaching the Finals of US Open

Emma Raducanu made the headlines of the US Open on Friday, by becoming the youngest British Grand Slam finalist in over 62 years.

At the age of just 18, Raducanu has taken the world by storm, as she beat out several veterans in the prestigious tournament, making her way all the way till the end. Ranked 150 in the world, the youngster surprised the field as she did not drop even one set as she processed in the matches.

Raducanu also became the first British woman to reach a grand slam final in 44 years, and to add to that she also became the first Brit to reach a US Open final in 53 years. Emma beat the likes of Belinda Bencic, Shelby Rogers and Maria Sakkari in the US Open. She will now face off against another teenager, Leylah Fernandez in a historic finals of the US Open.

Raducanu has now reached world no. 32 in world rankings by reaching the finals, and will move to world no. 24 if she wins the title.

Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, who races for the Mercedes team, congratulated Raducanu on her success. Hamilton who is also from Great Britain showed his appreciation for the youngster, saying that everyone was proud of her.

“This is amazing. We are all so proud of youu!! US Open Final lets goo” said Hamilton as he retweeted Radacanu, showing his support for her.

Hamilton, who is currently second in the drivers standings as the second half of the season begins, is a favourite at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, which will be held on Sunday.
