McLaren release official statement as Lando Norris replaces ‘unwell’ but recovering Daniel Ricciardo in second day of Bahrain testing

Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo has had a terrific start as he stoked an almost pre season in Barcelona. The Australian showed raw pace at times and was also able to finish P2 on the second day of Barcelona testing. McLaren has high hopes with this talented Australian who has shown glimpses of magic but hasn’t been able to fulfill his potential neither with Red Bull nor with McLaren in the last season.
Since formula 1 has gone through a massive change in regulations, tracks and more importantly, the cars, this could be McLaren’s opportunity to capitalize with the likes of Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris in their line-up. The two seemed to have build an understanding and there’s a tremendous sense of camaraderie between the duo as they continue to prepare for the new season.
After such a great start to the season, Daniel Ricciardo seemed to have faced a speed bump as he fell ill on the first day of the Bahrain testing and that seemed to have continued on the second day too. Lando Norris set to replace the unwell Daniel Ricciardo on the second day. Lando Norris himself struggled on the first day as he was only able to complete just 50 laps on the new MCL-36.
The unwell Daniel Ricciardo looks set to miss the second day of Bahrain testing, as confirmed by McLaren

McLaren couldn’t fix a brake issue that Lando Norris faced which led to him finishing 6th. Daniel Ricciardo has increased McLaren’s problems as it looked to build on that strong pre-season.
McLaren spokesperson said: “In a change to our planned programme, Lando Norris will continue driving the MCL36 this morning.“
“Daniel Ricciardo began feeling unwell yesterday morning, and while showing signs of improvement, the team will continue to assess him before he resumes driving duties.”
“Daniel has had several precautionary covid-19 tests during this time, which have been negative throughout.” as reported by gpfans.
McLaren keep a close eye on the condition of Daniel Ricciardo as only a week is left for the start of the season. The Australian continues to make steady progress and we wish him a speedy recovery.
