Mercedes chief strategist James Vowles all set to compete in the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series

James Vowles the Mercedes Formula1 team’s Chief Strategist is going to participate in the Asian Le Man’s series alongside Frank Bird, and, Manuel Maldonado for the team Garage 59.

As per the official TWITTER account of Garage 59, the team is going to field two cars for the competition with the numbers 59 and 88 on them and the car is going to be called McLaren 720S G3 for the 2022 Asian Le Mans series.

In the off time from Formula1, we have seen many Formula1 drivers indulging in different activities to recharge their batteries for the 2022 Formula1 season and now with James Vowels participating in the Asian Le Mans series, it seems the innovative minds are also joining the drivers in their bid to come back fully focused for yet another grueling season of Formula1.

The Asian Le Mans is starting from 11th February and is going to come to an end on 20th February, three days before the start of the winter testing session for the 2022 Formula1 season.

The Mercedes Chief Strategist James Vowle is going to partner with Frank Bird and Manuel Maldonado who possess tons of racing experience.

Frank Bird the British racer has a diverse racing experience as he has participated in many junior single-seater categories and also has tried himself out at GT Racing and Rallying. Most recently he was seen participating in the GT World Challenge Europe.

Manuel Maldonado is the most experienced in the trio when it comes to racing in the Asian Le Mans. Manuel was able to win the LMP3 class of the Asian Le Mans Series last year after winning the Dubai races of the series and also taking one victory in the Abu Dhabi races.

James vowles have been familiar with a seat on the F1 pit wall rather than in a car, for the Asian Le Mans, he would be banking on the experience of Frank Bird and Manuel Maldonado to come through during the event.

The Garage 59’s Team Principal, Andrew Kirkaldy has also given his verdict on the driver lineup for the 2022 Asian Le Mans season and has said “I’m really happy with the driver line-ups we’ve secured for Asian Le Mans. We’re all looking forward to getting started with the McLaren 720S and hopefully getting our first win of the season. For sure it will also be handy to have one of F1’s best strategists on the team.”
