Mohammed Ben Sulayem: Lewis Hamilton is not 100 percent ready to respond
Sulayem and Hamilton
Mohammed Ben Sulayem the new FIA President has recently come out in the press and told everyone that he has attempted to communicate with Lewis Hamilton ahead of the 2022 Formula1 season.
It has been stated in Planetf1 that Mohammed Ben Sulayem in a recent interview has stated that “I don’t think he is 100 percent ready to respond right now. We don’t blame him, I understand his position, as a driver, obviously, he is at a different level.” He has referred to the fact that Lewis Hamilton has not been responding to him reaching out.
Ever since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has remained silent and has only made two public appearances, one was when he received in knighthood and the other was at Mercedes team headquarters when the whole team and Lewis gave Valtteri Bottas a grand send-off.
Mohammed Sulayem is still awaiting a response from Lewis Hamilton, who along with team Principal Toto Wolff decided to snub the annual FIA gala ceremony.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem on FIA rules
On one hand, Sulayem has accepted the fact that he understands what Lewis is going through but on the other hand, has also emphasized that rules are there to be followed. While talking bout rules he has stated that “But for me, it’s not particularly related to a certain driver or a certain team. It’s general. There are rules we have to respect, and we have to respect the integrity of the FIA.”
He has further added that he would have to go through the whole Abu Dhabi file before making any decisions or putting any sanctions on anyone. He believes at the end of the day everyone is human and sometimes stress and pressure get the better of us. He hopes that all the parties can move forward without any more fuss and help in setting better examples for future generations.
On a personal level, he is very confident that everything will turn out just fine and everyone would be able to get on with the upcoming season of Formula1 without swelling too much on the past.
