“My heart goes out to him”: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar sympathizes with Lewis Hamilton’s after 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi
There needs to be no introduction given upon the respect shared by Formula 1 ace driver Lewis Hamilton and Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Time and again they have ended up applauding each other’s sporting prowess. But ahead of the chance of adding an 8th world championship against his name, FIA’s controversial decision ensured that the 36-years-old Brit driver finished second best to the raging Dutchman, who won his maiden world championship in Abu Dhabi.
With couple of tyre changes in the yellow flagged incidents, Red Bull equipped Max Verstappen with the better set of tyres in the final showdown. And despite Lewis Hamilton’s applaud worthy driving skillset on display, the last lap proved to be too-much for him as the Dutchman lunged past him with soft tyres to become the first ever Dutch F1 Champion. On the same note, Sachin Tendulkar ended up sympathizing with his friend, Lewis after the tragedy.
Sachin Tendulkar on Lewis Hamilton
“What a race! Congrats to Max for becoming the World Champion for the 1st time & there will be many more. However, my heart goes out to Lewis. What a season he’s had too. If not for the safety car, the trophy would’ve been his. Sheer bad luck. All the best for the next season,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter after the conclusion of Abu Dhabi GP.
To those who missed the race, Lewis Hamilton was quick to take the lead since the start and even raged past Sergio Perez, when the latter held the seven-time world champion was kept at bay for few alps. However, with Nicholas Latifi meeting an unfortunate end, FIA and the yellow safety car took over the controversial end.
With Verstappen being allowed to overtake 5 races, his new set of tyres ended with his emerging victorious. Having said that, Sachin Tendulkar is well aware of how an athlete has to face disappointing results, when he cannot handle the circumstances. Yet as things stand, Hamilton’s reign as the world champion comes to an end, but Kudos to Max Verstappen for winning his maiden world championship.
