Nelson Piquet Jr causes controversy by wearing an anti-Hamilton shirt only to celebrate Max Verstappen’s maiden title
Nelson Piquet Jr.
Nelson Piquet Jr has gathered a lot of attention and headlines for his over-the-top celebration during last Sunday’s Formula1 Grand Prix. While celebrating Celebrating Max Verstappen’s victory he wore a t-shirt with a Portuguese slogan that when translated to English means “boss my balls.” This hasn’t gone well with the sports fraternity of Formula1.
It was said in the GPblog that he gave an explanation for the t-shirt while answering fans on Instagram and quoted, “I have nothing against Lewis but this weekend I was in the same position as all of you, namely as a fan who is screaming from the bench.” His explanation has not been seen in good light and most people feel he wore the t-shirt to mock Lewis Hamilton.
Nelson Piquet Jr and his bogus attempt at tarnishing Lewis Hamilton’s reputation
During last Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Nelson Piquet Jr.’s attempt at ridiculing Lewis Hamilton has somewhat backfired on him as fans of the sport haven’t taken his gesture in good spirits and have mocked Nelson Jr. on his absurd gesture. Instead of tarnishing Lewis’s reputation, all he has managed to do is show what kind of a person he is.
Lewis is sometimes also called the Boss in his Mercedes team and with Nelson Jr. writing Boss = My balls on his t-shirt he has got himself into a predicament he is not going to like. The outcome of all of this could be really bad for Nelson Jr.
Lewis Hamilton is a beloved sports personality
Formula1 the sport it has become today would not have been possible without Lewis Hamilton. He has taken this sport to new heights with his spectacular performances over the years. He deserves a lot of credit for making the sport popular among the masses all over the world. He is a big name in sports in general and is adored by his fans.
People like Nelson Jr. and their timid attempts could never tarnish what Lewis has achieved in the sport and by now he himself must have realized that what he did was not right. Lewis is a brand in himself and is loved by his fans as a racing driver as well as a human being.
