“No, the only way is not up, for us it can also be down” Lando Norris “skeptical” of MCL36 even after strong showing during Saudi GP

Lando Norris the McLaren Formula One driver was recently asked to give his opinion of the team’s prospects this season and the brit’s response is going to worry the papaya-colored team’s fans all over the world.
Recently after the end of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, F1 journalist Rosanna Tennant told Lando that the only way is up but to everyone’s surprise Lando said, “No, no… The only way is not up, for us it can also be down. I love to be positive but in the slow speed, we are really bad and we’re a long long way off.’
What Lando has said about the MCL36 is surely going to worry the McLaren fans and if his comments are anything to go by, the McLaren team could be in for a lot of pain during the course of the 2022 F1 season.
Lando has admitted that he is one bloke who always tries to stay positive but given the situation of the team and the competition in the med-field, Lando is not very optimistic of having a strong season for the team.
Lando finished P7 in yesterday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix where he was pipped for P6 by Esteban Ocon during the final moments of the Grand Prix.
Lando Norris is preparing himself for both outcomes
Rosanna Tennant said the only way is up for McLaren, this is one possibility but Lando is also preparing himself for the other possibility that the team could have a tumultuous time during 2022.
Lando reckons that when it comes to slow speed they are probably one of the worst teams this season and given the gap to the top players in mid-field, Lando is preparing himself for the worst as well.
His teammate Daniel Ricciardo on the other hand is also not very hopeful about McLaren this season as even after Lando finished the race in P7, Ricciardo indicated that the Jeddah circuit characteristics suited their car and hence were a bit more competitive as compared to Bahrain.
Daniel didn’t sound optimistic about scoring points regularly during the season.
The next stop for Formula One is Australia and given what Lando has said about the MCL36, it is going to be interesting to see how well or how bad the team is able to perform in Australia.
