“In My Opinion, Nikita Mazepin Deserves High penalty”: Ralf Schumacher

Towards the end of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Russian driver Nikita Mazepin made a dangerous move onto his teammate Mick Schumacher to which he has already received a lot of criticism, both on the track and also off it. Recent to join that list is former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher who thinks the rookie should be penalised more severely.
Because of the battle in front, many people missed it, but in the final laps, Mazepin and Mick Schumacher fought for a place. The German wanted to pass his teammate on the straight, but the latter made a right turn at the very last moment. To say the least, this move was life-threatening, according to Ralf Schumacher as well.

“That move by Nikita Mazepin when Mick overtakes him is unacceptable. We’re talking speeds of over 300 kilometres an hour here. That’s life-threatening. You don’t want to know what would happen if a car like that goes flying at that speed,” Ralf said to Speedweek.com.
He added, ‘In my opinion, Mazepin deserves a heavy penalty. Outside the cockpit, he is a great young guy. If you speak to him he is very polite but in the race… It starts when people overtake him, where he often gets in the way. He really needs to improve on that.
“The race direction has to look at this. I think this is extremely dangerous and unacceptable,” concluded the former F1 driver.
Having said that it remains to be seen whether or not Nikita Mazepin will be penalised for such deadly moves in order to protect his ranking from his own teammate. However, as it stands, his actions have surely put him into everyone’s scrutiny once again.
