Reigning F1 champion and Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen secures first win in McLaren

Max Verstappen took part in the online version of the 12 Hours of Bathurst with team Red Line, his usual virtual racing outfit. The reigning F1 World Champion was paired up with Luke Bennett and finished P5 in qualifying from there the duo dominated the rest of the grid in their McLaren MP4-12C GT3 claiming a dominant win.
Max Verstappen was quick to acknowledge the victory following after disappointments at virtual Le Mans and Daytona for team Red Line. Max Verstappen said after the race and car went great and his teammate expressed his joy as his teammate young prodigy Luke Bennett had a solid drive.
“It was nice to race. The car went great, just like last year even though we had a different car then. Our young protégé Luke drove very solidly, which is nice to see. It is nice that together we managed to win this race for Team Redline,” Max Verstappen told Verstappen.com.
Max Verstappen’s former boss claim that he “made Formula 1 a kind of national sport” for the Netherlands

Van Amersfoort, team boss of his self-named outfit, in which Max Verstappen competed in his Formula 3 days, said Max Verstappen has made F1 national sports in the Netherlands with his win bringing in fans who weren’t previously watching F1.
“Verstappen has made Formula 1 a kind of national sport. That is incredible. People who never watched F1, now all watch F1, and that is purely because of Max,” Van Amersfoort said.
Max Verstappen will be back in 2022 to begin his maiden title defense potentially against a returning Lewis Hamilton defense of his title, choosing to race with the number ‘1’ on his Red Bull RB18, alongside his teammate Sergio Perez.
