Andretti’s dream of entering Formula one seems to be in full throttle with the American team finally reaching an agreement with French automotive company Renault for the supply of engines.

Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi said at his team’s launch earlier that Renault wasn’t considering supplying Power units to any customer team but may consider the offer in the future. He said new F1 outfits “might be good for us” and “help would be offered” if any approaches were made.

Andretti: “I’m very excited about it”

Mario confirmed earlier he wants to open a factory to build the car in Indianapolis stating “My dream is to do it here, to have a truly American car. We’d still have a big presence in the UK, but have the actual building of it here. I’m very excited about it. I’ve wanted to do it for a long time. I think it’s great for our brand and would put us at another level.”

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff had earlier commented “Andretti is a name, that’s for sure. And the American market is important. But every team that is joining needs to be accretive, which means needs to add value. It’s not only by paying a $200 million entry fee, but it needs to demonstrate in my opinion what it can do for the other teams, for F1 and FIA. Only then the sport will grow.”

According to the new Concorde agreement that teams negotiated in 2020, any new team that wants to enter the Formula One grid will have to pay an entry fee of $200 million. But with the interest in F1 growing, Andretti has a beautiful chance to make their debut very soon in the sport.
