Saudi Arabia GP 2022: Three drivers who can earn a surprise podium finish in Jeddah
Saudi Arabian GP
The carnival of F1 moves to Saudi Arabia after kick starting the campaign in style in Bahrain. Everyone expected the drivers to be tentative at the start of the season with the new cars but that was not the case at all. All the drivers went full throttle from the very beginning till the very end. Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen grabbed the headlines but there were other drivers who had an impressive drive too.
Let’s have a look at the drivers who could earn a surprise podium this weekend in Saudi Arabia. The first one has to be Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. The Mexican has bag loads of talent to go with fearlessness he shows at the circuit. He was tantalizingly close to bagging a podium in Bahrain before he crashed out because of a suspected fuel pump issue. He also had the fastest lap in the race for a good portion of the race and looked set for a podium at times before he spun out of the race. But if Red Bull can get their issues fixed, we can see Sergio Perez on the steps of the podium.
Another driver who caught the eye was Haas’ driver Kevin Magnussen. The Dane is making a comeback to Formula 1 after a gap of 1 year. He was fired by Haas F1 after his disappointing string of results. But after dropping Nikita Mazepin, Kevin was Haas’ first choice and he obliged.
Another exciting weekend of Formula 1 awaits us in Saudi Arabia as drivers from the midfield trying their best to break out of the midfield and secure a podium finish
The 29 year old looked surprisingly quick on that Haas VF-22 and bagged P5 after the struggles that the team has gone through in the recent past. So, we can’t put it beyond the Danish driver to build on this and bag only his second podium in the next race.
The last one on the list is George Russell. Mercedes prodigy didn’t have the best qualifying session as he struggled on the W-13 and could only finish P9. But the youngster showed character during the length of the race and made five places to finish P4. He definitely showed pace even when the car was at its best. If Mercedes can make amends with the car, it’ll not be surprising to see George Russell on the podium.
We all know that Ferrari and Red Bull have looked a step ahead of the chasing pack but these drivers have definitely shown raw pace and character. It could be an exciting weekend with the chasing pack showing promise to bag a podium. The next race is on the 27th of March in Saudi Arabia.
