Formula 1 signs deal to bring back cancelled Grand Prix
Chinese Grand Prix
The latest news from the world of motorsports indicates that F1 have extended their contract with the Chinese Grand Prix, making sure to keep the race in Shanghai until the 2025 season. The particular racing circuit hasn’t staged any race since the 2019 Formula 1 season. However, from 2014 to 2019, Shanghai was regularly on the F1 calendar. Yet with 2020 ruining the entire schedule due to the hiatus caused by Covid-19, Shanghai International Circuit was one among the many races being called off.
After the pandemic put Chinese Grand Prix out of the picture, it hasn’t returned since then. Even in the 2022 calendar, there is no Chinese Grand Prix. So, the next race to be held in the Shanghai International Circuit shall be from 2023 onwards.
What was opinionated by Stefano Domenicali?
“This is great news for all of our fans in China, and we are delighted to announce this agreement that will see us racing in Shanghai until 2025,” said F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali as quoted by racingnews365.
“Our partnership with the promoter Juss Sports is incredibly strong, and we look forward to continuing our long-term partnership.
“While we are all disappointed we could not include China on the 2022 calendar due to ongoing pandemic conditions, China will be restored to the calendar as soon as conditions allow, and we look forward to being back with the fans as soon as we can.”
