Red Bull have been emphatic throughout the course of 2021 and their prodigy Liam Lawson was on the verge to clinch the DTM Championship title. Yet his rival Kevin van der Linde though otherwise. Which made Helmut Marko furious upon the latter South African driver and opinionates that he should be suspended from the sport. 

To those who are not aware, it was the last race of the season at Norisring and entering the race Liam Lawson was leading the standings. Moreover, he even took the pole to see himself through but Kevin van der Linde overturned all obstacles and carved his way past the pole leader on Turn one itself.

Talking about the result, Kevin Van der Linde would later drop out of the top ten due to a problem with his car. Yet with a second win at the Norisring, Maximilian Gotz was the smiling third. He took the title with three points ahead of leader Liam Lawson.

‘If this was not intentional, then the race management is not good enough to participate in such a championship. There can’t be such a misjudgment. This was a completely ill-considered action by Kelvin van der Linde and it wasn’t his first”, Helmut Marko told Motorsport-total.com. 

“In my opinion this is very unsporting behaviour for which there should be an appropriate punishment. A man like this should be suspended. In Formula 1 he would automatically get so many points on his license that he would have received a race suspension”, the 78-years-old concluded.
