Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is looking to reclaim his World Championship crown after losing it to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in a controversial end to the 2021 season. The Brit looks charged up after a deserved break from the sport and pre-season testing in Barcelona and Bahrain

Lewis has been recognised for is managing his tyres and understanding the tyre degradation of his racecar. And sometimes the Brit has anticipated his tyres even when fans consider his tyres to be alright! The infamous call “Bono, my tyres are dead!” are a trademark of his anticipation while rival fans call it a bluff call to confuse other teams.

But the 7 -time World Champion is not satisfied with the new tyres supplied by Pirelli. Although the car performs much better in close racing conditions, it lacks grip. He is hopeful that the Italian tyre manufacturer will improve after receiving data from the testing.

Ahead of the 2022 Formula One season, the new 18-inch wheels were introduced in the sport. The new tyres were a part of the regulation changes introduced to improve the racing element of the sport and make overtaking more effective. But Lewis Hamilton criticised the new set of tyres after average Pre-season testing in Bahrain ahead of the season opener.

Hamilton added, “I think 2022’s car regulations have meant, for everyone with everyone sliding around, we all seem to have less grip than before, the tyres are worse this year. On the long run, it’s physically a lot easier for me. The positives so far, following another car looks a little bit better which is hopefully the right direction. I hope we can get some better tyres at some stage, or maybe they’ll work better in places where it’s not so hot. I’m sure the progress through the year will get to that place.”

Mercedes are preparing for another successful year and to lay claim to their 9th Consecutive Constructors title in the 2022 Formula One championship. The Silver Arrows will be hoping to begin their campaign with a win in the season opener. The racing resumes with Bahrain GP on March 18-20.
