The first pre-season testing of the 2022 Formula1 season took place between 23-25 February. While a few teams struggled during the Barcelona testing, there was one team that saw itself receiving praise up and down the paddock, and that team was the Ferrari Formula1 team.

The Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz put an impressive showing for the team on all three days of first testing and were able to put a whopping number of 439 laps in Barcelona. They were the top-ranked team in terms of mileage.

While the Ferrari team were fourth in terms of one-lap pace behind Mercedes, RedBull, and McLaren, they still were able to get the attention of people like Helmut Marko and Toto Wolff who in their post-testing interviews said that in their opinion Ferrari has got the best power unit going into the 2022 Formula1 season.

Based on the Barcelona test, there are good reasons for Ferrari to remain confident but at the same time, they are looking to not get ahead of themselves and lose focus from their target of challenging at the front end of the grid during the 2022 season. The second and final testing is just four days away and it will be interesting to see what kind of program the Maranello-based Ferrari team is going to run between 10-12 March.
