Mercedes are preparing for another successful year and to lay claim to their 9th Consecutive Constructors title in the 2022 Formula One championship. The Silver Arrows have been known for underplaying their role in the competition. The team caused another stir after unveiling their unique and highly debated sidepod design for the Pre-season testing in Bahrain.
Lewis Hamilton narrowly missed the title to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen after a controversial ruling. He completed 187 laps of the Bahrain International circuit during the Pre-season Testing but was looking slightly off the pace compared to his performance in Barcelona.
The Briton confirmed that the car looks good but the team have some issues some “hurdles to overcome” ahead of the season opener next week. He believes his team will certainly sort out the issues W-13 witnessed and the team will be hungry to challenge for the win when racing resumes officially.

Lewis Hamilton claims Mercedes “will be bringing our fighting spirit to the first race“

In a recent debrief, Mercedes rookie George Russell, 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin shared their views on the performance of the W-13. Hamilton pointed out that the team are facing issues while “working flat-out” on high speeds and are yet to find an adequate solution for porpoising.
Hamilton shared that “I’m sure everyone can figure out that we are not the quickest at the moment. There is potential within our car to get us there but we’ve just got to learn to be able to extract it and fix some of the problems, which is what we’re working flat-out on. I think everyone struggled out on this bumpy track and we come out of testing knowing that we still have a lot of work to do.”
Hamilton added “There’s a confidence within the team that we can always work through whatever problem we’re facing and that’s what we’ll do. I have all the faith in the men and women back at the factories to get on top of our issues. One thing is for certain, we’ll be bringing our fighting spirit to the first race next weekend!”
Mercedes will be hoping to begin their calendar with a win in the Bahrain GP and podium place for both drivers. The first race weekend begins on Friday, March 18 with the practice session with the main race taking place on Sunday, March 20.
