Christian Horner, the Red Bull team principal has recently come out and shed light on the shocking scenes that fans of the sport witnessed in Bahrain from Red Bull.
During the closing stages of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Red Bull team was running in solid point-scoring positions with Max and Sergio trying to get the better of the two red-blood Ferrari’s.
However, things changed dramatically for the team as both Max and Sergio bowed out of the inaugural race of the 2022 season with a mechanical problem. The Bahrain outcome was a shocker not only for Red Bull but for Formula One fans in general.
The Saudi Arabia Grand Prix is on the coming weekend and Christian Horner has welcomed this idea as he believes it will give Red Bull the opportunity to bounce back immediately.
The team during the build-up to this Sunday’s Grand Prix is going to do everything in their power to find a cure for the horrific “hangover” sustained in Bahrain.
The Bahrain result has put a downer on the buoyant mood that the Red Bull team had coming to Bahrain but they are very determined to change their fortunes during this Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Christian Horner is happy that the second race is on the coming weekend
During Horner’s recent interview it was suggested to him that it would be difficult for the team to do a full diagnosis of the RB18 given the second race is in a week’s time. To everyone’s surprise, Horner said, “I actually prefer it this weekend so I don’t have to wait two weeks with the hangover of this result.”
“The encouraging thing is we were within a tenth [of a second] of pole, we were fighting with Charles [Leclerc] for a win, it was great racing.“
“The regulations look like they’ve created that better racing, and disappointed not to get the podium.”
Horner while talking about the RB 18’s issues in Bahrain has also suggested that the problem came “out of the blue” for the team and an investigation into it is underway.
“We’ll strip the cars and get into it, whatever the issue was,” added Horner
“I suspect it’s something similar with both because the symptoms looked very similar.”
“We just need to get the cars back, get the fuel system apart, and understand because we know the fuel was in there.”
Christian Horner and the Red Bull team is very adamant about getting the Bahrain issues sorted because they are aware that this season the race for the 2022 title is going to be a close one and they don’t want to play catch-up during the whole season, rather they would prefer to be in the lead ahead of all the other nine teams.
