Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed his second victory of the season within the first two races of the 2022 Formula One Career. The Monagesque started the race in Pole Position ahead of the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Ferrari is on course to cement their lead on the championship as Leclerc claims their and his second win of the 2022 season. And the Scuderia, comfortably sit on top of the Constructor’s championship with a 49 point lead on Mercedes in second place. Leclerc leads the drivers’ championship by 34 points which is more than anyone did during any point in the 2021 season.

Leclerc started the race on pole position and since then went unrivalled for the rest of the race. He achieved his first F1 grand slam in his career and the first for Ferrari in 12 years. A grand slam is when a driver qualifies for a race in Pole position. leads every lap of the race, wins and also achieves the fastest lap.

Charles Leclerc claimed his second victory of the season in the 2022 Australia GP. The Ferrari driver extended his lead in the Drivers Championship in first place with 71 points. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished second. Meanwhile, George Russell claimed his first podium finish as a Mercedes driver as the Briton finished 3rd in the race.

In his post-race interview, Leclerc was thrilled by the way the car performed saying, “What a car today. This weekend, race pace, we were extremely strong, and the tyres felt great. I’m just so happy. Incredible to win here. We are only at the third race, so it is difficult to think about the championship but we have a very strong car, a reliable one too. It’s great to be back in this position.

Leclerc took a grand slam today. winning the race from pole position, leading every lap, and setting the fastest lap in the Australian Grand Prix. Achieving this feat makes him only the second Ferrari driver in the last 18 years to achieve this. Fernando Alonso was the last Ferrari driver to do it in Singapore in 2010.
