Lewis Hamilton’s car sport spoted his car number in a vibrant yellow colour. Meanwhile his teammate George Russell’s W13 sported his number in a dynamic shade of blue. Hamilton shared that he was keen on the change to make it easier for fans to spot from the grandstands. He used his own artistic and tech skills to come up with his striking new number design on the Mercedes W13.

Hamilton said, “I noticed the spectators couldn’t distinguish the two cars very well. I then brought the matter to the attention of my team. I then sent Toto [Wolff] and Ola [Källenius] a few pictures of how the paintwork would look better.”

He added, “I then looked at what colour would stand out the most and came up with yellow. We put that on the car, but then I realised that with the halo you still can’t see the helmet. So I decided to put some light on the helmet.”
