The first round of pre-season testing has ended in Barcelona. All teams faced multiple issues over the span of three days and are looking forward to a better run in Bahrain next month. So far, all the drivers are happy with their cars and have shown optimism.

However, despite their issues with their cars and disagreements with other drivers on the grid, there seems to be a unanimous decision on the question of which car is the fastest. And the answer is- Ferrari. The latest addition to this list is the two-time F1 world champion, Fernando Alonso.

So far, we’ve seen multiple drivers and bosses praising the Maranello-based outfit. For example, Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton praised the team after the testing rounds. George Russell said, “

“Some teams are looking pretty fast. A red team and an orange team, in particular, look very, very competitive,” referencing Ferrari as the red team. While Lewis Hamilton said, “Ferrari may not have developed their 2021 car very much and put everything into this year’s car. This may mean that they may be several months ahead of the rest of the teams.”

What did Fernando Alonso have to say about Ferrari?

Fernando Alonso drove for 127 laps on the first day of the testing and ended the day on eighth in the timesheet. And drove for 12 laps on the final day, before the car caught on fire and the team called it quits for Barcelona.

The driver looked impressed with Alpine’s new A522 but believes that Ferrari has got the fastest car on the grid this year. The veteran driver said, “Ferrari seems to be the fastest car, which is surely a surprise. For Carlos it is great news and for Spain in general, and Mercedes has also turned fast,” as quoted by Marca.

Ferrari’s driver Carlos Sainz sounded satisfied with the car’s performance as well. And for Charles Leclerc, it was clear what the driver thinks of the car from his first rank on day 2. The morale must be high in the Ferrari camp, and they’d certainly be waiting to display their maximum prowess on the grid as soon as possible.
