FIA give a diplomatic response to Lewis Hamilton’s accusation of biasedness in decisions

The pre-season testing is underway in Barcelona, and the first race of the 2022 season can’t come fast enough. The cars have been revealed, and we’ll soon get to see the fastest of the lot. Tensions are high, and we’re loving it.

The testing is being held in two sessions of four hours each, with a break between them. During the break on the first day of the testing, Mercedes driver and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, along with four other drivers was engaging with the media.

During this interaction, when asked what change would Lewis would like to see in F1, the driver, in regards to the stewards, said, “I just want to add we need to make sure we’ve got non-biased stewards, I just want to add we need to make sure we’ve got non-biased stewards,” as quoted by The Race.

The driver further said, “Race drivers, some are very, very good friends with certain individuals, some travel with some individuals, take a more keen liking to some. I think [F1 needs] people who have no biases, and are super central when it comes to making decisions.”

FIA’s response to Lewis Hamilton’s accusations

After Lewis Hamilton’s comments and before FIA’s response, Red Bull boss Christian Horner too, had responded. He said“I don’t think there’s been any stewards bias for one driver or another.”

FIA spokesperson addressed the comments made by Lewis Hamilton. The Spokesperson, said, “The FIA is proud of its global stewarding pathway that connects and develops the most talented stewards from across motorsport,” to racingnews365.com.

“This has resulted in a strong, independent, and experienced group of officials who carry out their work with impartiality and the utmost professionalism,” the spokesperson concluded.

FIA has recently announced changes to the race management in F1. The race director will be accompanied by a Virtual Racing Room, aimed to make the race control better and fair.
