“He’s…Getting There” : Lewis Hamilton posts photo with teammate, George Russell after going surfing together in Australia

While Mercedes did not have the best start to their 2022 season in Formula 1, they have a new talent amidst them who has delivered performances to the best of his abilities–George Russell. While, Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes veteran who has got 6 out of his 7 World Championships with the team, scored P10 in Jeddah, Russell surpassed him to give his team a P5 finish. As George Russell is slowly warming up to his new seat at Mercedes, his teammate mentions the camaraderie between the two Britons in his latest Instagram post.

In the photo, which was reposted by the official Mercedes AMG Patronus F1 Instagram account, we can see the two talented drivers stand proudly with their surfboards beside them. Formula 1 is known for the dynamics shared by the drivers on and off the track and this photo shows how true the friendship is between the two teammates.

Currently, Mercedes is busy handling their issues with the car so that they can clock good speed in the races from now on. If they want to get back into the title run alongwith Red Bull and Ferrari, their car has to be flawless and they cannot afford to make any mistakes now. But what is also important, besides a reliable car, is good sportsmanship between the teammates. Now, it looks like Mercedes has cracked that with the pairing of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.

The British teammates Lewis Hamilton and George Russell seem to be getting along quite well as the two went ahead for a round of surfing in the beaches of Australia following their decent performance at Albert Park in Sunday’s race. While Russell got his first podium finish as an official Mercedes driver, Lewis followed suit with a P4 finish.

In his recent Instagram post, Hamilton wrote about how he thinks surfing is a good exercise for all the drivers and how he wants his entire team to participate in it. The 7-time World Champion said, ” It’s so good for training, I’m trying to get the whole team on boards. So far, I got (George Russell). He’s…getting there.” While Lewis’ hesitance to accept that Russell did well with his surfing board tells us the young Briton might not be that good at the activity, Russell himself made fun of his surfing skills by calling their session “brutal”!

The bond between Lewis Hamilton and George Russell seems strong as ever because Hamilton is not ready to stop at surfing. In Mercedes’ Instagram post, we found Hamilton vowing to take George Russell for skydiving next. It is so fulfilling for the fans to see the Mercedes talents having fun together off the track. Now what remains to be seen is how they fare at the next race in Imola!
