“I am not interested in returning to F1’s midfield,” Kevin Magnussen opens up on his future in motorsports

Kevin Magnussen
Kevin Magnussen is a Danish racing driver who competed in the 2021 Weather Tech Sportscar Championship driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, before which he drove for the Hass team alongside Romain Grosjean. Kevin drove for the Hass team until the end of the 2022 season.
Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean lost their seats to Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher for the 2021 season. Prior to driving for Hass, Kevin drove for McLaren and Renault before. The best result of the 29-year-old in f1 was his first race at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix, where he not only bagged his first but the only podium by finishing P2.
The Danish driver made it clear that he has ruled out the possibility of ever returning to Formula One as he now solely focuses on winning and since leaving his seat at F1, Magnussen has won the IMSA SportsCar Championship alongside making a one-off appearance in the IndyCar.
“The rest of my career will be only racing with a hope of winning, Whatever I do, I’m not going to go into anything if I know I can’t win, never again,” said Kevin.
Kevin Magnussen gives his take on F1

In an interview, when the 29-year-old was asked if he would return to F1, if given the chance, Magnussen had an interesting insight to share.
“It was a great experience, I love that I was able to do it, I dreamed about Formula 1 ever since I was a little kid, so I really do feel privileged to be able to fulfil my dream and be there and actually have a career in Formula 1.”
“I was there for seven years and I enjoyed it most of the time, but sporting-wise, as an athlete it wasn’t rewarding enough to be in the position, I was in,” he added.
“It’s really good to be here [in the United States] and have that spark back. You can go into every weekend and you can smell blood, and it just gives an extra sort of energy that I haven’t had in a while,” said Kevin.
Kevin does not regret his decision in leaving F1 as he is enjoying the chance to try out different categories of motorsport. With the 2022 season, Magnessum is looking forward to compete in the World Endurance Championship for Peugeot.
Kevin opens up about his feeling regarding to trying out new opportunities by saying, “I knew it was going to be difficult, with no testing and first practice is your first time in an IndyCar, on a track that you never raced on before and stuff like that, but it was one of those things where I didn’t want to say no. I knew it was going to be difficult, but I thought, why not?”
