Lewis Hamilton, who is in the 16th season of his F1 career, has put the recent drivers’ briefing and topics discussed during the meeting under heavy scrutiny. The Mercedes driver said, “It was the longest drivers’ briefing of my life. I have been racing a long time, and they have never done such a long drivers’ briefing.”

Niels Wittich, who’s alternating the job of race director with Eduardo Freitas after the termination of Michael Masi after Abu Dhabi, is stringent about the rules in the code of conduct. The race director for Australia underlined several rules regarding drivers’ jewelry and fire-proof undergarments.

Lewis Hamilton criticized the authority’s call on policing. He said, as quoted by GP Fans, said, “I don’t really understand the small things they are picking up like the underwear. I mean, are we really talking about that sort of thing? But anyway, we move on.”

Wittich raised concerns over drivers not wearing fire-proof underwear. Lewis Hamilton wasn’t the only driver who put Wittich’s call under scrutiny. Several other drivers came down strong on the decision over the imposition of the no jewelry and mandatory fire-proof underwear rule.

The AlphaTauri driver came out strong and said, “I won’t comment on that. If they want to check my arse, feel free, I’ve got nothing to hide. My cock, everything. If that makes them happy, feel free.”

Whereas, Fernando Alonso said, “I’m not too interested about these things. You know, I think we need to be flexible in a couple of these things. But it’s part of the show. I guess.”

It’s clear that this news wasn’t received well by the drivers. Imposing and policing such private matters isn’t going to gel with everyone and certainly won’t be comfortable with everyone.
