The driver put on a flying lap and pushed Charles Leclerc from the pole, who himself took it from his teammate Carlos Sainz.

Sergio Perez’s pole is important for the team as Max Verstappen failed to climb up the grid and thus would be crucial in holding up the Ferraris in the race. The driver, while speaking of his flying lap, which got cheers from all the laps, said, “I could do a thousand laps and I wouldn’t beat that one! It was unbelievable.”

The final race on Sunday is perfectly set up, with two Ferrari’s separating Max Verstappen in P4 and Sergio Perez in P1. This is a strong and a determined response from Red Bull, particularly, Sergio Perez after a tragic start to the season at the Bahrain GP.

Race strategy is going to be absolutely vital on Sunday, with a possibility of red flags coming into the picture. Sergio Perez certainly has the speed, as he aced the second sector which handed him the pole position ahead of Carlos Sainz. Perez has won two F1 races in his long career, and will look to make it 3 in Jeddah.
