“It would be very easy,” Christian Horner believes Red Bull will comfortably adapt to a new Formula 1 power unit supplier

“It would be very easy,” Christian Horner believes Red Bull will comfortably adapt to a new Formula 1 power unit supplier

Red Bull Racing's Team Principal Christian Horner

Christian Horner’s opinion on Volkswagen’s announcement was a happy one. The Volkswagen Group broke the speculation on their arrival into Formula 1 by confirming that it would be doing so under its brands, Audi and Porsche. However, their arrival is restricted to the new engine regulations. They have confirmed that the group will wait until the time the new engine regulations are announced.

Red Bull are suggested as the top team to partner up with Porsche as they are going to be working with the Honda engine until the new regulations. In a recent interview, Horner said, “It would be very easy, but it would have to be with the right partner of course. It would therefore be logical for us to hold discussions with both OEMs, or any serious OEM.”

“For us, Powertrains is ongoing, it’s on schedule, and we’re really excited about the talent that we’ve managed to attract into the business.

Honda will be supplying the engine to Red Bull from its base until the end 2022, after which there will be a complete handover to Red Bull. Red Bull have been working on their working facilities at Milton Keynes and have made great progress according to Horner.

“The Red Bull Powertrains project is gathering pace with every week. The construction is on target and it’s great to see the building really taking shape,” said Horner.

All the roofing is going on and the dyno will start arriving next month. It’s really starting to come together and the effort going into it is impressive.

A new team, a new driver or a new upgrade to a car is always very exciting to see, as all the speculations end on the Race Day and performance is the only thing that matters. A new engine partner can make or break the already existing car, and Verstappen had a few things to say about the same.

We have 10 great teams, but also to have really big brands, to see that commitment, I’m looking forward to what the future will bring to the teams,” as reported by motorsport.
