Lando Norris reveals about never speaking to Kimi Raikkonen during their time together in Formula One

Kimi Raikkonen, one-time Formula One champion, and one of the most respected drivers on the grid, decided to hang up his helmet after the end of the 2021 season. The former Ferrari driver had a long and successful F1 career, stretching across three different decades. Finally, he decided that it was time to move on from the sport, and pursue other interests.

Kimi Raikkonen is a rather straightforward personality, and is remembered for his robust answers during the interviews. One of the the drivers whom he shared the stage in his last three seasons was young McLaren driver, Lando Norris. The Briton has asserted himself as the first choice driver at McLaren, and is widely recognized as one of the most talented drivers on the current grid.

Recently, Lando Norris was answering questions asked by his fans on the YouTube channel, Quadrant. The 22-year-old driver was asked if he missed a figure like Kimi Raikkonen in Formula One, to which Lando Norris had a rather mixed response. The Briton revealed that he never had anything more than a brief conversation with the retired Finnish driver during their time together in F1, and it was vastly limited to exchanging greetings with one another.

Lando Norris gave his thoughts on Kimi Raikkonen’s retirement, and whether he misses the Finnish driver’s presence. “I don’t think I ever said a word to him apart from a, ‘You alright?’, like when you walk past someone you know but don’t really know,” said Norris, as quoted by RacingNews365.

However, just like several fans around the world, Lando Norris accepted the fact that he missed watching the Finnish driver’s interviews. But apart from that, Norris stated that he does not necessarily miss him as a driver on the grid. Moreover, he added that there are plenty of other interesting drivers in the F1 community, apart from the former Ferrari driver.

I miss watching Kimi; I miss his interviews and that side [of him]. But apart from that, no. There are plenty of other cool people in the world and we have an exciting grid,” Norris added.

Things are finally starting to look good at McLaren, after a good haul of points in Australia. Both drivers finished among the points, with Norris coming in at P5, whereas, Daniel Ricciardo brought his MCL36 home to a P6 finish. This will be a massive relief as far as McLaren is concerned, given their horrendous start to the campaign, which saw both drivers finishing outside of the points in Bahrain.
