Screen Actors Guild awards are now 27 years old and are the best predictors of the Academy Awards. And if going by the pattern, it seems Will Smith would be up for winning the Academy Award for the best actor.
Will Smith won the Screen Actors Guild Award, abbreviated as the SAG awards, in the Best Actor category, for the portrayal of Richard Williams in the biographical drama film King Richard, based on Richard’s life with his family and everything around. Richard Williams is the father of one of the most popular and celebrated tennis stars, Serena Williams and Venus Williams. And F1 star Lewis Hamilton was one of the first to congratulate Smith and the Williams.
The movie producer, in an interview with Variety, said, “There were tears involved. They said Will was frighteningly similar to Richard [Williams]. It felt great to hear those things.” This would’ve been probably the earliest signs for Will Smith and the whole team as to what to expect from the movie’s release.
