Lewis Hamilton is set to be present during his team’s car launch. Following the new regulations in F1, that’ll mark the beginning of a new era, Mercedes will launch their 2022 car on 18 February 2022. The new car is named W13. It is believed that this confirmation comes as a result of the FIA’s investigation into the Abu Dhabi GP of 2021 and the rumors that have followed since. This might also be the first instance when the driver breaks his silence on the events of Abu Dhabi GP.
Mercedes remained the only Contructors’ Champion in the hybrid era of Formula 1, which lasted from 2014 to 2021. The Brackley-based outfit was unmatchable throughout the years and would hope to continue their streak in the new era as well.
Mercedes’ ever-powerful car and Hamilton’s driving skills were a match made in heaven, beneficial for both of them. The team and the driver would also be looking forward to the relationship between the newly signed young driver, George Russell.
What caused the uncertainty over Lewis Hamilton’s presence in the first place?
Lewis Hamilton had an epic showdown against Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi in 2021. The drivers had an excellent season in 2021 and headed into the finale on equal points. While Max came out as a champion, Hamilton believed he was snubbed of a record eighth title.
The British driver went on a break from all social media and was nowhere to be seen. He made an appearance once at a school initiative but didn’t comment on the finale of the 2021 season. The driver ended his social media hiatus last week and brought joy to all the fans.
Moreover, Toto Wolff’s comments cast doubts over Hamilton’s return to the sport. Adding fire to the rumors were the team’s earlier comments on “both” drivers joining the launch but didn’t name them. However, the team has now confirmed that the Briton shall be present during the car launch.
