The tension at Red bull is growing after a terrible end to the Bahrain Grand Prix where both the drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s car gave up in the final three laps of the race due to fuel pump failure. It was frustrating for Red Bull fans to watch the drivers put their best performance with one of the fastest pace and speed on the grid and yet not win or even finish the race.

For Red Bull Racing, the problems began earlier. Verstappen, for example, was frequently heard grumbling on the onboard radio and was greatly inconvenienced by a power steering problem. “Verstappen seemed angry for much of the race,” wrote Martin Brundle in his column.

The 62-year-old did not hold back while writing about the Red bull’s misfortune in the first race of the 2022 season. He mentioned and highlighted the key points which were troubling Max Verstappen during the race. It started with his (Max Verstappen) frustration during the first two pit stops where he wasn’t allowed to push hard enough as his tires were fading quite quickly.

Later, Max Verstappen got quite angry at his power steering which had taken a knock and as a cherry, on top of all the issues the young lad faced that day, the Bahrain Grand Prix ended for him with a cruel race-ending reliability issue.

“Angry that he perceived he wasn’t allowed to push hard enough after the first two pit stops, angry that his tyres faded quite quickly, then very angry that his power steering had taken a knock, and then the cruel race-ending reliability issues,” added Brundle.

After Pierre Gasly’s engine failed, the safety car was deployed due to a fire at sister team AlphaTauri, which he describes as “cruel irony” for Red Bull. According to Brundle, the increasingly hot leftover fuel in the tank at the time may have played a key role in the crashes of Verstappen and Perez.
