Max Verstappen reported to meet F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali in relation to concerns over the nature of the tracks

As per the sources, Max Verstappen met with the F1’s CEO Stefano Domenicali on Thursday before the weekend in Australia began, to present his concerns over two important things that, also by extension, affect the other drivers of F1. The concerns during the meeting were the addition of new tracks and their nature and Netflix’s Drive to Survive.

Recently, F1 announced the addition of Las Vegas GP, on a street circuit, from the 2023 season. The addition of another street circuit means less overtaking and an additional race on the calendar, increasing the work toll of the drivers and the teams.

Another pressing concern of Max is reportedly the Netflix show Drive to Survive. The driver refused to give an interview to the show and accused them of faking the rivalries which affected his image in the public eye. Max Verstappen earlier bashed the show for portraying him in a bad light in his “rivalry” with Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull.

Why Max Verstappen is concerned about these issues?

Max Verstappen, as quoted by The Express“Of course, they have to make money and try to make the sport more popular, but it’s also important that the right tracks stay on the calendar and that we don’t just go on street circuits in cities.”

He added, “Ultimately, these cars are not made for that. He understands that, but he also has to take his shareholders into account. It won’t be like it used to be, entertainment is becoming more important.”

On the other hand, Drive to Survive has come under the radar of several drivers and fans. The show has been found guilty of over-dramatizing and attempting to create rifts between the teammates. Daniel Ricciardo has been caught at least twice in the show’s attempt of faking the rivalries.

Many drivers are believed to have shown reluctance while giving interviews. Stefano Domenicali has tried to address these concerns and said, “There are themes that need to be redefined. Netflix managers are already meeting with the teams, but we are on the topic of culture and language. If you want to be in touch with the US market, you have to speak that language – we need to adjust. But that does not mean upsetting us, of course”

With the world champion pressing his concerns, and in a way speaking for many on the grid, Domenicali is expected to consider these issues. With several traditional tracks under heat, we may see some new tracks with lots of overtaking opportunities and hard racing.
