After having two brilliant opening races in the 2022 season, the third race, i.e., the Australian GP, didn’t go as planned for the Ferrari driver from Spain, Carlos Sainz. The driver, after having a terrible start in the race, where his position had rapidly fallen from P9 to P13, had spun and got his car stuck in the gravel, which brought his weekend in Australia to an end.

Talking of the Australian GP, Carlos Sainz, as quoted by AS, said, “I don’t remember my other hundred and odd races. It’s hard to know if it’s the worst of all, but it is a weekend that seemed to go better, that I felt better in the car and could put in good laps, and suddenly it became in one of my most disappointing grand prix weekends in F1.”

The Spaniard started the main race on P9. He couldn’t manage to push his car on Saturday to its maximum and thus had to settle for a spot in the fifth row alongside Alpine’s Fernando Alonso.

Speaking of the major learning from Australia, Carlos said, “The important thing, as I said, is to learn and try to be more perfect. With the car we have this year, every race you don’t finish, you’re losing a lot of points. Australia is a good example.”

Looking ahead to the future rounds, Sainz said, “The important thing is that myself and the team have learned to be more perfect, stronger, and more robust in all aspects. 20 races left, anything can happen, and this end of the week will be a boost for the next races.”

Carlos currently stands third in the drivers’ championship, behind his teammate Charles Leclerc and the Mercedes driver George Russell, who collected his first podium for his new team. Last year in Imola, which is the next race on the 2022 calendar, Sainz finished fifth, a spot behind his teammate.
