Formula One shared a new special livery to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, celebrates the beginning of the new year.

Formula One shared the special livery to commemorate the “Year of the Tiger” on its social media accounts. The Year of the Tiger begins on 1 February 2022 and ends on 21 January 2023.

A competitive 2022 Formula One schedule on the cards

Formula 1 has designed a special 2022 livery car on the occasion of the Chinese New Year. The car is red in colour which is considered a lucky colour in Chinese Culture. It features some pretty stunning visuals of the dragon on the wheel covers and the side of the car features drawings of the Chinese wall.

As the Year of the Ox moves into the Year of the Tiger billions of Chinese people across the world will welcome the new lunar year. It is celebrated in several Asian countries like China, Korea and Japan.

China has hosted a Grand Prix continuously since 2004 at the Shanghai International Circuit. The 2020 Chinese Grand Prix was originally scheduled to take place on 19 April but it was postponed and later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 edition was postponed and later cancelled in response to the pandemic.

Last year it was confirmed that the 2022 race will also not be held China. However, the contract with the race track has been extended by three years until 2025. Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton holds the most number of wins in the Chinese Grand Prix. The 7 Time World champion has won the race on 6 occasions.
