The first round of pre-season got over in Barcelona after three quite eventful days. Some teams got the best out of the 8 hours per day sessions, while a few struggled to even complete a couple of hours in a single run.

Mercedes was one of the most successful teams on the grid over the round. The team completed 393 laps in total, distributed amongst its two drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Lewis Hamilton completed 184, and Russell completed the remaining 209 and provided the team with the invaluable data before heading to Bahrain testing round and then GP a week later.

Lewis Hamilton heading into the sixteenth season of his F1 career, in an interview with F1, remarked, “Arriving and looking down the pit lane and seeing all the different cars, I think it’s one of the most exciting and interesting seasons that I’ve ever embarked upon.”

Lewis Hamilton is exciting ahead of the season as we are witnessing one of the biggest changes in the sport’s regulations in nearly 40 years. The cars had to be designed anew, putting each team back on a starting line, with none better than the other.

Despite finishing on top of the timesheet on the final day, the seven-time world champion is staying cautious as he said, “It will be interesting to see where everyone comes out and where we stand in the first race.”

The driver, sharing his enthusiasm, said, “I think every year’s exciting, but of course [in] previous years it was an evolution of the previous year’s car, so in this one, it’s completely brand new.”

“Of course, I’ve seen the designs of our car over several months, but now to see everyone’s car out there, you’re trying to get a close eye to see what is different if there is anything, why certain teams have chosen a certain route in terms of sidepod design, front wing, and the floor,” concluded Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton would be looking forward to adapting to the new car as early as possible. The driver now aims for the eighth championship, which he believes he was snubbed of last year in Abu Dhabi.
