“I think it’s important to keep the two sides apart”: Max Verstappen emphasizes the importance of a Work-Life balance in Formula 1
Max Verstappen won his maiden World Driver’s Championship in Formula 1 in the final race of the season. A lot of Lewis Hamilton fans may claim that it is not a real trophy, however, nothing can be taken away from Max owing to the fact that he was the driver with the most led laps and most wins in the 2021 season.
We can also not cancel out the string of injustices laid down on Max Verstappen in Silverstone, Hungary, Monza, and Jeddah due to the inconsistent interpretation of rules by the FIA and the stewards. A lot of things have changed since the famed Formula 1 season of 2021 ended.
The F1 cars now have new regulations and Max Verstappen’s car would be sporting the Number 1 since he is the champion of the world. Max Verstappen seems to have kept a very practical approach and mindset for his life and Formula 1.
He effectively divides his racing and personal aspects of his life to effectively concentrate on one thing at a time. Recently, during day 2 of pre-season Formula 1 testing in Barcelona, a journalist asked Max to elaborate on the changes in his life after he won the World Driver’s Championship.
“My Life is the Same”- Max Verstappen after winning his maiden World Driver’s Championship
Max Verstappen is a fierce competitor who would not give up or budge, with ice running in his veins irrespective of the opponent or the situation he is facing. A journalist asked him a question on how his life changed after the controversial win in Abu Dhabi, on this he said,
“Maybe a little more recognition. I am not there to be recognised, I wish to be not known at all that’s way better. No, my Life is the same as it was before I won the championship. My F1 life is completely different from my personal life, when I am here on the track, I try my best and perform the best. When I am at home I don’t really think about F1 too much, I don’t want to talk about it all the time while I am at home or talk with people about it, I am already always talking about it on the track. I think it is important to keep the two sides apart,” said Max during an interview.
The 2022 season of Formula 1 is especially important to see if the performance and pace of Max Verstappen change due to the pressure of defending his title, or will he be free of pressure to go out there and race freely.
