IPL 2020: Four umpires from ICC Elite Panel to officiate

According to reports, as many as 16 umpires will officiate the matches in the 13the edition of Indian Premier League. Out of 16, four umpires have been selected from the ICC’s Elite Panel. IPL 2020 is all set to start from 19th September 2020.

While speaking to ANI, a source confirmed that four umpires from the ICC’s Elite Panel List- Chris Gaffaney (New Zealand), Richard Ellingworth (England), Paul Reifel (Australia) and Nitin Menon (India)- will officiate in IPL 2020. The other 12 members will be from BCCI’s panel of umpires.

There are four from ICC’s Elite Panel who have been selected to officiate in the tournament. The rest are Indian umpires. We are looking to bring in the umpires in the UAE around September 10,” the sources said.

IPL 2020 to begin on 19th September 2020

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League is all set to start from 19th September 2020 and will conclude on 10th November 2020. All the matches will be staged in three venues- Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The standard Operating Procedure maintains that players and match official will take shower after the completion of a match. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure amidst COVID scare.

All the teams, except CSK, have begun their training ahead of IPL 2020. IPL 2020 schedule will be announced on 4th September 2020.
