Tom Brady’s debut in sports broadcasting with FOX Sports comes with a major demotion for the renowned analyst Greg Olsen. It appears that the NFL legend will be replacing Olsen in the broadcast booth, once he takes over in the opening week of the 2024 regular season. 

Last Tuesday, Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post reported that Fox had demoted former NFL tight end by pairing him with play-by-play announcer Joe Davis as the network’s No. 2 NFL announcing team, to make space for Brady. Last season, he broadcast the entire season in the top team with Kevin Burkhardt.

Not only did Fox demote Olsen’s position, but also dropped his salary from $10 million to $3 million, to be in the No. 2 team. Given, that the network has signed a 10-year deal worth $375 million with the NFL GOAT, for him to be the lead analyst with Burkhardt.

With the significant decrease in the salary, there have been speculations on whether or not the analyst would remain with Fox, but when Joseph Person and Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reached out to him, earlier in January, his response didn’t seem to suggest any moving plans. 

Fox [decision-makers] were the ones that believed in me from the beginning. They gave me my first opportunity to do this when I was still playing back in 2017 on a bye week. No one was adamant about my future in this business as much as Fox was. I'll forever be grateful for that.

So far now, Olsen doesn’t plan to part ways with Fox as it seemed rather foreseeable to be overshadowed by the seven-time Super Bowl champion when he joins the network.

However, fans don’t seem to handle analyst Olsen’s demotion very well as they believe FOX Sports did injustice to him for Brady. NFL fans all over social media have been calling out the network for this.

One fan wrote, “Did him so dirty.” While another fan wrote, “KB and Olsen were the best to listen to. What a huge mistake.” Here are some of the fan reactions: 

Though some fans reasoned with the network saying GOAT, it’s justified, many didn’t like it and claimed Fox is making a big mistake. They argued that Olsen’s commentary was amazing, while Brady has no experience in it whatsoever.
