FP2: Hamilton leads the charge; Grosjean impresses with Haas pace

It was Mercedes again securing P1 and P2 at the Spanish GP. Hamilton lead Bottas by 0.287s in FP2 with Verstappen P3.
The track temperatures at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya 10 degrees hotter than FP1.
Hamilton’s best lap time in FP2 was a 1m 16.883s, 0.098s slower than Bottas’ session-leading time from earlier in the day in FP1.
Bottas on his fastest lap at FP2 had a small hesitation at Turn 16 which may have led his short coming. He also went off the track at Turn 12 after a long run.
Just like the morning session, Verstappen was the best non Mercedes runner, 0.821s adrift of Hamilton for Red Bull.
Ricciardo confirmed the pace of Renault after going P4, 0.164s off Verstappen.
Romain Grosjean went on to do one better in FP2 than FP1 ending P5 to round off the performance-wise was Haas’ most positive day of 2020 so far.
Although that was blighted slightly by a late issue on Grosjean’s car, which the team were set to investigate after the session.

Vettel although impressive performance in FP1 struggled in FP2 ending in P12 to Leclerc’s P6 the gap being not so much of mere 0.257s.
Carlos Sainz ended at P7 for McLaren with his new chassis, while Sergio Perez ended at P8 for Racing Point.
Ocon finished P9 for Renault to round off the top 10 with Gasly came in P10 for AlphaTauri while Stroll in P11.
