‘That would definitely be the number 1 fight’ – Francis Ngannou on fighting Jon Jones
Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones
Francis Ngannou’s demolition of Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 to clinch heavyweight gold, saw his name go up against Heavyweight newcomer Jon Jones, soon after the victory. However, there has been a lot of drama, since Jon Jones has been demanding a huge sum of money for fighting the predator (even 10 million USD isn’t ok for Jon).
Speaking in the latest episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, Francis Ngannou explained that there was nothing wrong with Jon Jones demanding a huge sum of money for fighting him while maintaining that he didn’t know much about the details of the deal. Francis however, made it clear that fighting Jon Jones was his number one priority.
‘Everybody in this position would like to have compensation‘ – Francis Ngannou
Ngannou was quoted as saying, “Everybody in this position would like to have compensation. A guy like Jones, he’s been around for very long, and has been helping this sport and this company grow. So yeah, I think there’s nothing wrong about that, but once again I don’t know what the deal is. I would like that fight to happen. That would definitely be the number 1 fight. Jon Jones. Jon Jones definitely. But at this point we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Jon Jones has been actively packing on the muscle and all his recent Instagram posts testify to that. So, it is pretty clear that Jon will have a go at Francis if he is paid the amount he demands. But taking on Francis will never be easy. The Cameroonian has never been finished in his career, or submitted, and comes with serious raw power enough to dismantle even a Grizzly bear.
Ngannou has also mentioned that he would like to fight two more times this year. So we can expect a fight against Jon if he is satisfied with the amount he would be getting paid.
