Most matches at the French Open

During the 2014 French Open, Roger Federer moved past Guillermo Vilas in the number of most French open matches played. With 87 total matches, Federer stood in second place to Rafael Nadal. After reaching the semi-finals this year, Djokovic moved past this record. Djokovic now stands behind Nadal who will play his 101st Roland Garros match today.

Nadal and Djokovic will be eyeing for a finals clash yet again, having their semi-final matches against Diego Schwartzman and Stefanos Tsitsipas, respectively.

A potential final matchup at Roland Garros 2020 may see both world number 1 and 2 playing for another French Open crown. With Nadal wanting to take his Grand Slam tally to a record 20 titles, Djokovic will be looking for his 18th Grand Slam triumph.

Although Djokovic leads the overall head-to-head 29-26 against Nadal. The undisputed ‘King of Clay’ leads the French Open head-to-head, the potential match-up is going to be an exhilarating one if both manage to get past the challenges they face in the semi-finals.
