The Kansas City Chiefs are leading in the NFL with an undefeated 6-0 record, moving a bit closer to their ultimate goal of three-peat. However, in the past few weeks, their conference rivals, the Baltimore Ravens have emerged as their biggest threat, sitting at a 5-1 season record.
Even though the Ravens don’t have an undefeated record, their offense is ranked first in the league with a 461.4 yards average and 26 touchdowns, whereas the Chiefs aren’t among the top five as they are ranked 10th with 350.3 yards average and 16 touchdowns. This sparked an extensive debate about which of the two teams is more scary.
In the recent episode of ESPN’s First Take, former NFL quarterback Cam Newton picked the Ravens as the scariest because of the star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is also an MVP favorite. However, Stephen A. Smith doesn’t seem to agree with Newton and he sure didn’t hold back from questioning the credibility of his take on both the teams.

Agreeing with Smith, Elle Duncan joined in the debate, asserting that despite Patrick Mahomes’ subpar outings, Kansas City is currently the best team in the league. She highlighted last season, the team had numerous challenges but Mahomes’ heroics ultimately guided them to win their second consecutive Super Bowl.
Cam Newton snubbed Patrick Mahomes from top five quarterbacks list
Unlike his colleagues on the First Take, Newton is quite skeptical about the three-time Super Bowl champion’s ability due to his lackluster performance. That’s why, he snubbed him off the list of the top five quarterbacks in the league while keeping Jackson at the top, followed by Jared Goff, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Sam Darnold.
The former Carolina Panthers’ quarterback argued that Mahomes is not playing up to the caliber that everyone expected him after winning back-to-back Super Bowl rings. He credited the team for the undefeated 6-0 record and not the elite quarterback.
With 1,389 yards, 6 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and 61.4 QBR, the Super Bowl LVIII MVP is said to be having the worst year of his remarkable career. However, this performance has hardly affected the team as they remain the favorite to win the grand Vince Lombardi trophy and achieve the historic three-peat.
