Former Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza has joined the rising list of people left in awe by Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz. She stated that she gets excited every time she sees Alcaraz in action, singling out his energy as one of the reasons.
Speaking about the current generation of tennis players, Muguruza name-checked two of the hottest prospects of men’s tennis currently – Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. While she hailed her compatriot Alcaraz for his energy, she praised Sinner for his calm demeanor.

Muguruza also praised both Alcaraz and Sinner for achieving success at a young age. She stated that she was amazed by the current generation of players and compared them to ‘machines’.
I like the energy, I get excited when I see Carlos stick his fist out. Sinner is super calm, while Carlos is almost euphoric all the time, I love that. They are so young and they have already won some great titles. In the end, I am amazed by this generation, they are real machines.Garbine Muguruza said via El Larguero
Carlos Alcaraz faces bigger challenges at 2024 Wimbledon
While there is no dearth of energy in Carlos Alcaraz, his game is not yet error-free. After winning the 2024 French Open title, a few tennis experts stated the same and claimed that he won the title because he stuck to basics.

The Spaniard now gears up for the Wimbledon Championships, where he is the defending champion. Having set a benchmark for himself with his title-winning performance in SW19 last year, the 21-year-old will have to match that level while also working on reducing the errors in his game.
Alcaraz has not started the grass-court swing in the best of ways this season and it will certainly affect his confidence heading into the Grand Slam. At the Queen’s Club Championships, where he was the defending champion, the World No. 3 beat Francisco Cerundolo in the opening round before falling to Jack Draper in straight sets.
Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner has kicked off the grass season with a title win at the Halle Open. Novak Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, is currently in a race against time to be fit for the Grand Slam and his participation will further intensify the battle for the title.
