Wales are up against Austria in a one-off playoff at Cardiff in March, should they get past Austria they will then set a showdown with either or Scotland or Ukraine for a place at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year. Wales are yet to make an appearance at the World Cup since 1958 and Gareth Bale will surely want to represent his country at the biggest stage of them all.

However if it does not go as planned then the winger is considering to end his playing career at the end of the season. Bale moved to Real Madrid for a then world-record fee in 2013 and has won four Champions League and two La Liga titles. Since then the player has become out of favour in the recent seasons and as a result spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Spurs.
