Former Seattle Supersonics player Vernon Maxwell has been making the headlines lately for his recent statements regarding his teammate Gary Payton. Notably, Maxwell shocked the NBA community after his recent revelation regarding a fight that took place between him and Payton during a light-practice session with the Supersonics.
Maxwell recently told an explosive incident about his 1999–2000 season with the Seattle Supersonics during an interview on “Gil’s Arena.” In addition, known for his fiery personality, “Mad Max” revealed how, following an event that left him furious, he ended up punching down teammate Gary Payton during practice.

In addition, The fight continued after that. Maxwell and Payton fought once more in the locker room. This time, Horace Grant attempted to break up the altercation but was unintentionally hit by a five-pound weight, breaking his shoulder and keeping him out of action for two weeks as per various reports. This was one of the darkest and most brutal fights among the teammates in the NBA.

Gary Payton and Vernon Maxwell were teammates at the Seattle Supersonics. However, they are mostly known for their infamous fight that took place between them during the 1999–2000 season.
Payton recently opened up on the fight on Vlad TV. Interestingly, this particular fight also took a toll on Horace Grant who went to resolve the matter between Payton and Maxwell in the locker room.

On the contrary, Grant did not harbor any animosity toward Payton despite missing the following game due to a “bruised shoulder,” as per Payton. In addition, Grant knew that Payton did not mean to hit him and it was just “bad timing” on his side. It’s important to note that, Payton was fined $200,000 from his organization for the incident.
