The PGA Tour is expected to make a massive decision in the upcoming days. With the Los Angeles Wildfires causing massive havoc, the Genesis Invitational has been moved away from the Riviera Country Club. According to reports, the Torrey Pines course, home of the Farmers Insurance Open 2025 is set to be the location where this signature event could take place.

Last week, the tour confirmed that the Genesis Invitational had been moved away from the Riviera course. Fortunately, the course has not suffered any sort of damage as of yet due to the wildfires.

As per CBS Sports Rick Gehman, Torrey Pines Golf Club will be selected as the host of this event. A reason for this could be due to the course’ close proximity to the Riviera Country Club. The two courses are said to be around 120 miles away from each other.

I have the understanding that Torrey Pines will be selected to host the Genesis Invitational. The combination of 1) keeping it in California and 2) proximity to the original event — were some of the factors that pushed it over the edge.

The Torrey Pines Golf Club will host the Farmers Insurance Open 2025 this week. Unlike the other PGA Tour events, the Farmers Insurance Open starts on Wednesday and wraps up the tournament on Saturday. This year the event will be played between January 22-25.

While Schauffele is currently out due to medical reasons, the news of Morikawa withdrawing from the event came out on Sunday. He along with Nicolai Hojgaard and Tyler McCumber have taken their name back from the playing field.

Later it was announced that Mackenzie Hughes had followed them in doing so and also withdrew from the tournament. Hayden Springer, Wesley Bryan, S.H. Kim, and Pierceson Coody have been named as replacements for this event.

The Farmers Insurance now only has Ludvig Aberg and Hideki Matsuyama as the top-10 ranked players in this field. Defending champion Matthieu Pavon is in the field and will be looking to become the first player since Tiger Woods to go back-to-back in this $9.3 million purse event.
