“Take a shot”- Gerald Meerschaert jokingly recalls his devastating KO against Khamzat Chimaev as he proposes a drinking game
Gerald Meerschaert vs Khamzat Chimaev
UFC Middleweight Gerald Meerschaert is one legit man from whom you can learn how to take a career loss. Meerschaert is a fighter with a 94% finish rate, hence telling how exciting it gets once he enters the Octagon. Meerschaert is on a three-fight winning streak. Fighting in the UFC since 2016, Meerschaert has won over the likes of Sam Alvey, Joe Gigliotti, Eric Spiceley and many more. But his last loss is what the MMA community sadly remembers this savage middleweight fighter for.
Meerschaert’s last loss came as a knockout loss to the fighter fighting at this weekend’s fight card of UFC 273, Khamzat Chimaev, who took Meerschaert out with an overhand right within just 17 seconds of the very first round. It was Chimaev’s third UFC fight only. Now heading into his fifth UFC fight, Chimaev is going to face #2 ranked welterweight and former title challenger Gilbert Burns, in which the fight odds have made Chimaev a massive favourite.
Gerald Meerschaert has an idea for you to get “completely annihilated”
Even though people talk about his last loss because of Chimaev’s rapid rise to stardom, Meerschaert isn’t fazed or hurt by any of it. Instead, he is the one to welcome jokes on it altogether if needed or make one.
On Twitter, Meerschaert proposed an interesting drinking game for the fight night of UFC 273. He wrote: “Wanna get completely annihilated tonight? Take a shot every time the clip of Khmzat sending me to the shadow realm plays during #UFC273“
What do you make of Meerschaert’s proposal for this drinking game to the fight fans? Are you guys in for it? Who do you think wins between Chimaev and his UFC 273 opponent Gilbert Burns? Who do you want Meerschaert to fight next? Do you think there’s a chance Meerschaert and Chimaev will run it back again? UFC 273 happens this weekend in VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida in the USA. The fight card is headlined by UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski defending his title against Chan Sung Jung.
