In Short
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo named Kevin Durant the toughest player he has ever guarded during a viral interview.
  • Both players faced early playoff exits in the 2025-26 season, with Antetokounmpo missing the playoffs entirely.
  • Chad Johnson reported that Antetokounmpo is searching for a house in Miami amid speculation about his future with the Bucks.

Both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant saw their 2025-26 campaigns end prematurely. Antetokounmpo missed the playoffs altogether as the Milwaukee Bucks finished at 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Houston Rockets were beaten in the first round in six games by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Antetokounmpo and Durant have clashed once in the playoffs. It was in the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals when Durant was playing for the Brooklyn Nets. The Bucks came out on top in an engrossing seven games that saw both superstars put up unbelievable numbers.

While filming a commercial with The Rock for Moana’s live-action rendition, the Hollywood star asked Antetokounmpo who is the toughest player he has ever guarded. The Bucks forward replied:

Toughest player gotta be KD. Great talent. Probably the best scorer of all time.

There is no doubt that both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant are two of the greatest ever to play the game. Both have won championships, Finals MVPs, and MVPs, and continue to dominate on the court. While Durant is in the backend of his career, Antetokounmpo is in his prime.

The ‘Greek Freak’ is one of the best defenders in the league, while Durant is one of the greatest pure scorers the game has ever seen. Antetokounmpo has witnessed it firsthand as they have clashed several times.

Chad Johnson says Giannis Antetokounmpo is moving to the Miami Heat

The future of Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Bucks is still up in the air. After dealing with the noise regarding his future for the entire 2025-26 season, it looks like the former champion is finally on his way out. To add fuel to the fire, he accused the Bucks management of holding him back even when he was healthy to play towards the end of the season.

Former NFL star Chad Johnson recently revealed that Antetokounmpo is already looking for a house in Miami as the rumors heat up.

As I’ve told you all, I think during the season or early in the season that Giannis is already searching for a house down here in Miami. So he will be down here in Miami. I don’t want to spill the beans too much.

The Heat are another club that has missed the playoffs this year after their exit in the Play-In Tournament. Hence, they have been heavily linked to various superstars in the league. They have been linked to Ja Morant as well, but based on Johnson’s statements, it looks like the franchise are moving for the Greek superstar.

Another disappointing campaign for Kevin Durant

When Kevin Durant joined the Houston Rockets in the offseason last year, there were a lot of expectations for them this year. They finished in fifth place in the Western Conference standings with Durant leading the way.

In his 18th season in the NBA, the Rockets forward made 78 appearances in the regular season as he averaged 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. However, he was able to play just one game in the playoffs. It was in Game 2 against the Lakers, but he had a poor showing and never took to court again for the remainder of the series.

The 37-year-old has struggled to make a deep postseason run since his departure from the Golden State Warriors in 2019. He has played for three different franchises since – the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns, and the Rockets. He has gone past the first round only once after his stint with the Warriors, which was in 2021.

The Rockets will be looking to make some moves to bolster the roster for the upcoming season. There have been some rumors linking Antetokounmpo to the Rockets. Whether it’s with the Bucks or another team remains to be seen, but there is a world where Antetokounmpo and Durant end up playing together next season.
