The New York Giants fall to a 2-5 record on the season after taking yet another loss this season. This time, the team was slain at the hands of Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles on their home field. Tonight was viewed as a revenge game by the fans at MetLife Stadium whose only wish was to get the better of the running back who joined the divisional rivals earlier this year.
Alas, the outcome was far from ideal for Giants fans. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated throughout the game and ended the night with a comfortable 28-3 lead. Giants HC Brian Daboll benched starting quarterback Daniel Jones and put Drew Lock in after the team’s shot at making a comeback slipped out of their hands.
Daniel Jones had his worst game of the season thus far as he threw for 99 yards and failed to get any touchdowns. Tonight’s game ended the debate between him and Patrick Mahomes as made by a radio host last week.
The story was different on the other side of the ball as the visitors had no trouble getting on the board. Saquon Barkley had a 55-yard sideline run in the second quarter and followed it up with a 3-yard touchdown run that silenced the crowd at MetLife Stadium.
Fans react to Giants benching Daniel Jones mid-game
In light of this performance, Giants Nation is infuriated. After all, the team was eager to lock in quarterback Daniel Jones and sign him to a four-year, $160 million contract in 2023 and left Saquon Barkley waiting for another season to offer him a better deal. John Mara and Joe Schoen’s decision has not aged well thus far as Danny Dimes has not played as well since signing his new deal.
For six seasons, Saquon Barkley was the only consistent aspect of the Giants’ offense but the front office did not waste any time in offering Daniel Jones a huge deal after one good season. Unsurprisingly, after today’s bloodbath at MetLife Stadium, the same bunch of fans who were booing Saquon Barkley earlier tonight are now criticizing the team for letting him go. Here’s what the fans had to say on X:
shoulda paid Barkley instead smh

The New York Giants need to consider making a switch at quarterback if they intend to win games. The team’s passing offense ranks amongst the bottom half of NFL teams with them averaging 213.5 yards per game and having scored 6 touchdowns so far this season. Despite the numbers, Brian Daboll will stick with Daniel Jones as his QB1 for the foreseeable future because the team has invested heavily in him and to look to another QB is not sensible at the moment.
